About HeartWatch

HeartWatch has been developed by a team of renowned cardiologists who are passionate about heart disease prevention. Their vision is simple – less deaths and less illness from heart disease. Read more about the team below.

Cardiovascular disease in Australia

The term cardiovascular disease includes all diseases that involve the heart and/or blood vessels. Such diseases include heart attack, coronary artery disease, cardiomyopathy, heart failure, atrial fibrillation and stroke. In Australia, cardiovascular disease accounts for 1 in 4 of all deaths, or one death every 12 minutes.

The typical experience in Australia

The process typically begins at the general practitioner and may involve referrals to various specialists. Whilst care through these pathways is often excellent, individuals can report that it involves numerous appointments, long waiting times, and multiple visits at different locations. Also, with medical technology constantly progressing, people may feel unsure if they are receiving the most cutting-edge and evidence-based care. Without guidance, the whole process can, at times, feel disjointed, stressful, and time consuming.

MBBS (Hons) PhD FRACP
Dr Ellims is a clinical cardiologist and cardiac imaging specialist with expertise in cardiac risk assessment. His PhD thesis further refined the role of cardiac MRI imaging to evaluate inherited heart disease, as well as novel approaches for heart disease risk stratification, such as plasma lipid profiling to predict heart disease risk.

Dr Jonathon Habersberger

Dr Habersberger is an internationally trained clinical cardiologist and interventional cardiologist with expertise in cardiac risk assessment. His PhD thesis helped establish the role of novel aspects of C-reactive protein in blood vessel inflammation and risk of subsequent heart attack.

Our typical participant

A typical person undertaking this program is someone motivated to have a thorough assessment of their cardiovascular health, but beyond that, they also want to know what their results mean, and what they can do to minimise their risk of developing heart disease.

These individuals want the latest in testing and prevention, but don’t necessarily have the desire for multiple separate appointments, and long delays for a comprehensive workup. They want a rapid and comprehensive return on their investment in terms of results, advice, and actions.

Our participants have included, but are not limited to, executives, managers and other busy professionals working in stressful roles or in charge of large teams. They are looking for a bespoke approach to their health, empowering and guiding them to mitigate their heart disease risk.

If you’d like to see whether this program may be a good fit for you, please do not hesitate to contact us.

The Heart Watch Team

The Heart Watch team not only brings world-renowned specialists in cardiovascular care, but functions as a single unit, collaborating constantly to provide a seamless and efficient experience for our patients, from the first phone call, to the final report. Under the one service, these physicians, nurses, physiotherapists, exercise physiologists, and dieticians, communicate with each other regularly, to save you significant amounts of time, and provide the best care possible.

Our specialists ensure best practice care through ongoing peer-reviewed published research, academic university and teaching hospital positions, community education involvement, and various healthcare leadership roles. These doctors came together to found Heart Watch because they recognised the struggles that Australians face while trying to get a full cardiovascular workup, and shared a vision of how it could be done better.
